ART ICON MONICA RITTERBAND DESIGNS NEW MORSØ 7600 WOOD STOVE LINE AND ACCENT ACCESSORIES

Portland, TN- Monica Ritterband is one of the most popular cultural icons of Denmark. She posses a truly extraordinarily creative mind that allows her to express herself, successfully, through paintings, sculptures, illustrations, and now contemporary Morsø cast-iron stove and accessory designs for the new 2009 Morsø 7600 series.

“Inspiring artists has been a rewarding Morsø legacy”, notes Morsø US President Craig Shankster. “We have a rich history with world-renowned designers- like Monica Ritterband- who have created timeless Morsø cast-iron products.”

Monica Ritterband’s unique art works ranges from miniature glass mosaics to enormous steel sculptures, which adorn public squares, parks and shopping centers.

For Morsø, Monica Ritterband applied her elegant and refined, yet simple and direct style to a new eco-wise, cast-iron Morsø stove collection that includes the wall-fit Morsø 7670, pedestal Morsø 7648, and curvaceous 7644 & 7642 models. She also designed stunning cast-iron accent accessories, including a tea kettle, trivet, wood cradle, and fire tools.

In 2003, Monica Ritterband created the charming and humorous “Musica” porcelain china design for the Danish company, Royal Copenhagen, and in 2004 she crafted a new universe of linen patterns- Humans and Raindrops- for GEORG JENSEN DAMASK.

Once again she’s broadening her creative realm with the Morsø’s 7600 wood stove series. Her other notable designer ventures include a large carpet collection using her “Dancers” theme for Ege Carpets, and a raindrop motif candleholder, called Sign, for Holmegaard Glassworks.

Monica Ritterband has been voted Danish artist of the year four times in different contexts, and has had feature exhibitions at many prominent cultural centers, including Royal Copenhagen Flagship Store and museum, FrederikshavnArt Museum, EsbjergMuseum, and The Women’s Museum in Denmark.

Morsø has been making wood-burning stoves of the highest quality since 1853. Now one of the world’s leading suppliers of cast-iron wood-burning stoves, Morsø exports stoves to all parts of the world, irrespective of the climate – from northern Scandinavia to South Africa, from the USA and Canada to Australia and Japan. Today, Morsø cast iron stoves are used in over 25 countries.
